F.A.Q.

I thought slavery was abolished, does it really still exist?
YES! The fight against legalized slavery was won in the early to mid 1800’s, however illegal slavery still exists today.

How many people are living in slavery today?
The UN estimates 1-4 million people are becoming enslaved yearly, and 27 million are living in slavery.

Where are these slaves living?
Look around, although slavery is not legal in any country it exists in EVERY major city across the world.

What products or services are slaves providing?
80% of people living in slavery are involved in sexual slavery. 60% of these are children. Slave labor is also used to bring us diamonds, chocolate, shoes and pornography. Slaves are used as child soldiers, for organ harvesting and as domestic labor.

How much money will you raise and where will it be used?
Modern Slavery is the most under funded human rights issue in history. Money is needed to rescue and rehabilitate victims of slavery, as well as find and prosecute those exploiting them.

That is why we are raising $1 for each of the 1 million children enslaved yearly. We are working with the world’s most prestigious non-profit organizations (Free the Slaves, Stop The Traffik, Invisible Children, Shared Hope) who are rescuing and restoring the victims of slavery worldwide.

In partnership with Stop Child Trafficking Now we have 200 elite special operatives who track predators to build cases resulting in convictions - without using the resources of local law enforcement. They are in great need of funding to continue this mission. The efforts of a single operative team will do more to save children than millions of dollars put toward rescuing victims!

Why are you doing this?
Let me borrow the words of a great abolitionist -Edward Hale “I am only one, BUT I AM ONE! I cannot do everything, but I can do something, and what I can do, I ought to do, and what I ought to do, by the Grace of God, I SHALL DO!” When I look into the eyes of my 5 young daughters, I cannot bear the thought of someone else’s child living in slavery.

The Run 4 The Rescue intends to create a global tipping point in the fight against slavery. By making the discussion on this heavy matter more mainstream, we hope to see the public get more involved with the solutions and work together to end modern slavery.

Who is paying for the Run 4 The Rescue?
Eric has sold his house and used his savings to pay for the Run 4 The Rescue. Additional funds necessary to achieve the objectives of the Run are provided through the support of generous donors like you.

Is my donation Tax-Deductible?
Absolutely! for all those who wish to make considerable donations in return for a tax receipt, we have partnered with charitable organizations to make that possible. Just email us through the contact page!

How will running 500 miles in chains end slavery?
By educating millions on the existence of modern day human trafficking and its causes, the demand for products and services using slaves can end.

How long will it take to run 500 miles?
With both the running and the speaking we anticipate the journey to be approx 42 days.

Are your chains real?
Real and heavy. I have the bruises, blisters and pain to prove it!
